Furnace Repair

When it comes to home heating, one of the most common options is the furnace. A furnace is simply an appliance that burns some form of fuel to generate heat, which is then passed through the home to warm it. Furnaces are popular in large part because they offer excellent efficiency and reliability, but they also provide quicker and more consistent heating than some other home heating options. Of course, even the most reliable heating appliances will require repairs eventually, and the same is true of furnaces. We service furnaces of all kinds throughout Las Vegas and Henderson NV, but the most common types of gas and oil furnaces.

Even those who put their furnace through tireless maintenance may encounter the need for a furnace repair. Our techs are trained to handle any furnace break-downs you might call us for, so you’ll be warm in no time.

Gas Furnace Repair

A gas furnace is fueled by natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Unconditioned air passes through an air filter and is pulled through the unit, where it meets with gas that has been sent through the burners. An igniter or pilot light provides a source of ignition, generating heat to warm the air via a heat exchanger. This type of furnace is highly efficient and cost-effective, but it does require occasional repairs. A failure to ignite is among the most common issues, the cause of which varies depending on the ignition source. Malfunctioning thermostats, improperly adjusted burners and failing blower motors are also problems that our heating and air conditioning repair technicians frequently address. We also recommend that you have your gas furnace inspected and serviced once or twice per year to ensure that it’s operating safely and efficiently. Oil Furnace

Although an oil furnace accomplishes the same job as a gas furnace, it does so in a different way. Unconditioned air is mixed with fuel oil, which is pulled from a tank and shot through a nozzle. The nozzle forces the fuel oil through a small screen, which effectively aerosolizes it and allows it to be ignited by an ignition transformer. Oil furnaces are somewhat less efficient than their gas counterparts, but they are generally less expensive and boast a longer lifespan. They are also safer – unlike LPG or natural gas, fuel oil will not explode or ignite unless it is vaporized under specific conditions. However, oil furnaces do require more maintenance and repairs. When incomplete combustion occurs inside the furnace it can generate a lot of soot, which can clog up the furnace and cause it to work less effectively. Other common problems include a failing burner motor, a clogged spray nozzle or a dirty air filter.

Electric Furnace Repair

An electric furnace is the quietest of all the furnace units, providing minimal distraction in the home. This is because an electric furnace pulls in air through the cold-air return and into the cabinet area of the system. There it uses electricity to heat the air and then push it out again through the duct work. Electricity heating is nearly silent compared to gas or oil. It is also on the cheaper end of furnace units as far as the initial investment is concerned. The main issue to take into consideration when deciding on whether or not an electric furnace is right for you is that the cost to operate it will be higher than a gas or oil system. But, with a lifespan of up to 30 years, and being considered one of the cheapest units to repair, this is a minor con among a sea of pros.
